Synthetic Organic Chemist
Verdezyne is seeking a synthetic organic chemist to develop polymer applications for renewable bio-based chemicals.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a related field and a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in an industrial setting. Experience with synthesis and characterization of organic compounds, purification techniques, analytical methods and polymer synthesis by condensation or free radical methods is required. Excellent communication and personal interactions skills are essential, as the successful candidate will be expected to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary research team.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently to design, conduct and analyze experiments in multi-step synthesis of organic molecules to optimize yields and minimize side reactions (milligram to gram scale).
- Support future scale-up of synthesized compounds, possibly interfacing with outside contract manufacturers.
- Communicate data and results to mutli-disciplinary project teams, both orally and via written reports and publications.
- Keep abreast of technology developments in synthetic organic chemistry, sustainable chemistry and bio-based monomers and polymers, and exploit these developments to continuously improve and expand the company's knowledge and capabilities.
- Maintain a safe and orderly laboratory to ensure compliance with all safety policies and practices.
