Neal Bhadkamkar, Ph.D., Monitor Ventures
Neal Bhadkamkar is co-founder and Managing Partner of Monitor Ventures, the early stage venture capital affiliate of The Monitor Group. He focuses on systems, industrial and life-science companies that leverage advanced information technology. In addition to Verdezyne, Neal serves on the board of Nanostellar Inc., a Stanford University spinout developing model-based design tools for advanced nano-materials, and is board observer at Matisse Networks, a company that designs and sells distributed optical switches for metro area networks. He earlier served on the board of 3DMatrix Inc., an MIT spinout commercializing self-assembling synthetic peptide scaffolds for a variety of life science applications.

Robert Engler, M.D.
Dr. Engler is Professor of Medicine, Emeritus, UCSD, in Cardiology. He was Professor of Medicine at UCSD from 1975 to 2001. His research discoveries include the role of white blood cells in reperfusion injury and capillary no-reflow, adenosine protection of the myocardium, and cardiomyocyte apoptosis. He has authored 19 book chapters and over 80 scientific publications. He was a founder of Gensia (currently Sicor), Collateral Therapeutics (sold to Schering, AG), and the Veterans Medical Research Foundation (VMRF). He served as President and Chairman of VMRF from 1992-2002.

E. William Radany, Ph.D., President and CEO
E. William Radany has over 25 years experience in the biotechnology industry. Prior to joining Verdezyne, he was the President and CEO of High Throughput Genomics, Inc., a provider of novel array-based gene expression assay technology for the life science industry. Previously, Dr. Radany was President of Biacore and founder and CEO of NeoGenex. Dr. Radany has held executive positions at Xencor, Caliper Technologies and Stratagene, where he helped establish business relationships with major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Dr. Radany has spoken at numerous conferences and has invented several patents over the past 25 years. Dr. Radany received his Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Physiology from the University of Wyoming.

Eric Rutten, Royal DSM N.V.
Mr. Rutten is currently Senior Investment Manager for DSM Venturing B.V., subsidiary of Royal DSM N.V., a Netherlands-based specialty performance materials and life sciences company.
Mr. Rutten joined DSM in 1985. He started in the Corporate Research organization heading a small explorative research department working in creating new products and new business in the polymeric material area. From corporate research a switch to New Business Development Manager at DSM Special Products was made. After three years setting up new business for DSM Custom Manufacturing in the specialty chemicals business, he switched back to R&D management world wide responsible for research and technical service for DSM Polyester Coating Resins. Early 2001 Mr. Rutten moved with his family to the USA taking up the responsibility as Vice President-R&D at DSM Pharmaceuticals based in North Carolina. After returning to the Netherlands in 2004 he was Project Director for a large organizational restructuring project and later on he joined the DSM Innovation Center in 2006 where he was heading the Innovation Office initiating and running different programs to improve innovation capabilities of DSM world wide.
In his current role as Senior Investment Manager Mr. Rutten is investing and taking Board of Director positions in start-up companies with a clear strategic fit with existing and future DSM activities. He is based in California.

Drew Senyei, M.D.
Dr. Senyei is a managing director at Enterprise Partners where he leads the life science practice. Drew focuses on investments in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices and consumer healthcare. Drew has served on over 25 public and private boards including Adeza Biomedical, NuVasive, Corixa Corp., Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Nanogen, Inc., and Discovery Partners. He currently sits on the boards of Enterprise portfolio companies including: Anaborex, Ascenta Therapeutics, Celladon, Ceula, Complete Genomics, Genoptix, Ophthonix, and TargeGen.

Meghan Sharp, Ph.D., BP Alternative Energy Ventures
Meghan Sharp is a member of the corporate venture team within BP Alternative Energy. AE Ventures invests in early to growth stage technologies across a diverse range of strategic sectors including wind, solar, biofuels, bio-based products, carbon management, energy efficiency, and energy storage. Meghan focuses on bio-based investments, and is also responsible for incubating new businesses affiliated with the Energy Biosciences Institute, a BP Group Technology partnership with University of California, Berkeley and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Meghan received her Ph.D. in Bacterial Genetics from the University of California, San Francisco, performed post-doctoral work at the University of Chicago and the Carnegie Institution of Washington at Stanford University, and received her MBA from Columbia University.

Chad Waite, OVP Venture Partners
Mr. Waite has more than 25 years of experience in both the management and investment sides of emerging growth companies. In 1987, he left his post as General Partner at Hambrecht & Quist Venture Partners to join OVP Venture Partners. Prior to that, he was in marketing and sales management at Cobe Laboratories, Inc. in its cardiovascular medical products division. Mr. Waite earned an AB in History from Kenyon College and an MBA from Harvard University.
